How to get your med spa recommended by AI assistants (what's in your control)

By the FirstInChat team

A guest asks an AI assistant, "Best med spa for Botox near me?" or "Laser hair removal in [city]." The answer is a short list of names — not ten blue links. Owners then ask: how do I get my med spa on that list?

The honest answer first: you cannot buy a guaranteed spot. You can make your clinic clearer and easier to name. Clear treatment pages, consistent name / address / phone, reviews shown on your site, and a short monthly habit are in your control. Nobody — including FirstInChat — can promise that ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google AI Overviews will name you.

This guide is for independent med spas and aesthetic clinics (and whoever runs your marketing). It is not medical advice and makes no clinical outcome claims. Check your state advertising rules for medical / aesthetic services before you publish claims. We are not giving legal advice.

Honest product note: FirstInChat's free audit today is a website readiness check plus a Google Gemini snapshot from built-in knowledge only (ungrounded: no live search; may be out of date; not AI Overviews or AI Mode). Grounded Gemini + Google Search comes later, with no date. We do not claim ChatGPT or Perplexity product results. Nobody can promise that any AI assistant will name your clinic.

For the wider budget question, see AI search vs local SEO for med spas. To spot-check yourself first, use How to check if AI mentions your med spa. The dental twin of this how-to is How to get your dental practice recommended by AI (steps).

First, the honest frame

AI answers change by wording, day, location, and tool. Treat "recommended" as a goal, not a ranking you purchase. The work below helps guests and summarizing tools understand who you are, where you are, and what you offer — the same clarity local SEO already rewards.

The six things that are in your control

1. Clear, consistent practice details (NAP)

Same clinic name, address, and phone on your website, Google Business Profile, and major listings. Fix Google + your site first if they disagree.

2. One clear page per treatment you actually offer

Vague "aesthetics" or "services" pages are hard for humans and machines. Prefer one page per real treatment (for example Botox / neuromodulators, laser hair removal, Hydrafacial) that states, in plain text:

Hide nothing important inside images or PDFs alone. Put the facts in text.

3. Provider credentials, stated accurately

If a medical director or licensed injector is part of how guests choose you, say so accurately on the site. Do not invent titles. Check board / advertising rules for how you may describe credentials. Not legal advice.

4. Structured data that matches the page

When you add schema, it must match visible facts only. Never invent ratings. Prefer types that fit a real med spa / aesthetic clinic after you confirm them on schema.org — and keep fields honest.

5. Reviews that mention the service (shown on your site)

Specific, recent, guest-written reviews help people book. Showing public reviews on your own site is a readiness signal FirstInChat checks. Ask ethically after a smooth visit — no incentives, no gating. Full guide: Do Google reviews affect AI search for med spas?.

6. Crawler access basics

HTTPS, a sitemap, robots.txt that does not block AI crawlers by accident, and optionally an llms.txt as a cheap extra (nobody can promise assistants read it today).

Treatment pages AI (and clients) can actually understand

This is the highest-leverage website fix for most clinics that already have a Google profile and some reviews.

Weak homepage or services blurbs: "Luxury aesthetics in the heart of the city."
Stronger treatment page lead: "Laser hair removal in [city / neighborhood]. Book a consult to see if it's a fit."

Checklist for each treatment page:

  1. H1 names the treatment + place (or clinic name + treatment).
  2. First paragraph answers what it is and where you offer it — no outcome guarantees.
  3. Pricing: only ranges or "varies; discuss at consult" if that is true for you. Never invent.
  4. Downtime / aftercare: only what your clinic stands behind; still not medical advice.
  5. Consult CTA above the fold and again at the end.
  6. Internal links to related treatments and to your reviews / GBP.
  7. No stock claims you would not say in person.

If you only have time for one page this month, pick the treatment you most want more consults for.

A 30-day habit for a busy owner (under 1 hour a week)

Week

Task (keep each under ~1 hour)

Week 1

Align NAP on website + Google Business Profile. Fix mismatches.

Week 2

Publish or rewrite one treatment page with the checklist above.

Week 3

Make reviews visible on-site; send one ethical review ask after a smooth visit.

Week 4

Run the same AI spot-check questions as last month (MS2 method). Log yes/no named only. Pick next month's top three gaps.

Changes can take weeks to show up in assistants. Sometimes nothing moves. Keep the log anyway — it stops you guessing.

Careful with claims

Med spa and aesthetic advertising is regulated. Do not invent before-and-after guarantees, clinical outcome promises, or guest health stories without permission and board-safe framing. Prefer plain service facts. Check your state board and FTC advertising rules. We are not giving legal advice.

What FirstInChat helps with today

The free audit scores website readiness (including treatment-page clarity signals you control) and adds an ungrounded Gemini built-in-knowledge snapshot for local test prompts. It does not measure live ChatGPT, Perplexity, or AI Overviews. Start on the med spa landing or jump to the free audit.

If you'd rather have the monthly fix list drafted for you, Autopilot ($99/mo) is the done-for-you path, and Monitor ($49/mo) is the DIY path. Also available: Pro, $199/mo, for up to 3 locations or more support. Plans coming soon. No card. No checkout.

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy a guarantee that ChatGPT will recommend my med spa? No. Nobody can sell you a reliable guarantee of that. Clarity and hygiene on your site and listings are still worth doing for guests.

Does FirstInChat make ChatGPT or Perplexity recommend my clinic? No. We do not claim ChatGPT or Perplexity product results. Today's free audit is website readiness plus an ungrounded Gemini knowledge snapshot.

What should I fix first if I only have two hours this month for med spa AI search? Align name, address, and phone across your site and Google Business Profile, then rewrite one treatment page with service, place, and a consult CTA in plain text.

Do I need a separate page for every med spa treatment? Prefer one clear page per treatment you actively promote. A thin catch-all services page is usually worse than a few solid treatment pages.

Will schema alone get my med spa named by AI? No. Schema helps machines parse facts that already appear on the page. Never invent ratings.

How do I know if my med spa AI visibility changed? Repeat the same guest-style prompts monthly and log yes or no named only. Treat each run as a snapshot, not a rank.

Next step

This week: pick one treatment page, rewrite the lead with service + city, confirm NAP matches Google, then run the free audit.
